Some gelatins contain phosphate additives and may not be recommended, especially if phosphorus control is an issue. Check labels and ingredients. Unflavored gelatin and fruit juice makes a good substitute.

What's everyone saying?
I'm really suprised at the amount of dairy, protien and sugar in these recipes, promoted for kidney friendly. Dietitian comment: The whey protein in this recipe is meant to make a high protein gelatin for dialysis patients who need a high protein diet. There is an option to use sugar-free gelatin to make a very low carb dessert.
What kind of protein powder? Dietitian comment: Some possible brands of whey protein with acceptable potassium and phosphorus levels include EAS 100% whey protein powder, Resource Beneprotein powder, Prosource, Procel. Your renal dietitian may have additional recommendations.
Would this work just as well with Liquacel liquid protein? Dietitian comment: Sometimes substitutions can be tricky. The only way to determine is to make the recipe and see if the substitution works. You could make a half portion as the test recipe.
is it clear when you are finished?
This is an easy and delicious way to increase protein intake. The amount of protein powder is correct and works out well in the recipe.
Is the 1 cup whey protein powder measure incorrect? It seems like a lot of protein powder. Should it be 1 scoop? Great idea, want to be sure of the measures before attempting! Moderator comment: It's actually a little over 1.5 tablespoons per serving. I have not made this one but the High Protein Power Cubes has over 1 cup of whey protein powder.
